Terms of Use & Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Note: This page is being finalized and is pending review by counsel. For accuracy in the meantime: NLT uses a first-party consent manager (opt-in, with Global Privacy Control honored), no Google Analytics, no HubSpot tracking, and no third-party advertising or cross-site tracking. To exercise a privacy right, use the request form in the Your Privacy Rights section below or visit the Your Privacy Choices page. Bracketed review notes mark items still being confirmed.

Terms of Use

Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using the New Light Technologies website at newlighttechnologies.com (the "Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. NLT reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance.

Disclaimer of Warranties

This Site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without any warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Limitation of Liability

[REVIEW: counsel to add jurisdiction-appropriate limitation-of-liability and indemnification clauses.] To the fullest extent permitted by law, NLT is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or related to your use of the Site.

Privacy Policy

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide through forms — typically your name, organization, work email, and your message or request — when you use the contact form, request a capabilities statement or other resource, subscribe to updates, or submit a privacy request. If you tell us which audience or sector you belong to — for example, by choosing the group we serve that best describes you as you navigate the site — we record that selection as a first-party preference and may attach it to a request you submit, so we can route your inquiry and respond appropriately; this is a functional preference, not advertising or cross-site tracking. If you opt in to Analytics in our consent manager, we also record pseudonymous usage events (such as pages viewed and interactions) using our own first-party analytics. For security and de-duplication we store a hashed representation of your IP address, not your raw IP. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party analytics service, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to respond to inquiries and requests, deliver resources you ask for, send updates only where you have opted in, operate and improve the Site through our own first-party and consent-based analytics, comply with legal obligations and government-contracting requirements, and protect the security of our systems.

Consent and Cookie Choices We Record

When you make a choice in our consent manager — accept all, reject non-essential, or save specific categories — we keep a server-side record of that choice as evidence that your preferences were captured and honored. Each record includes the categories you allowed (analytics, marketing), whether your browser sent a Global Privacy Control signal, the version of the notice you saw, a hashed (not raw) visitor identifier, a coarse country or region derived from your network connection, the page where the choice was made, and the time. [REVIEW: set and disclose a retention period for consent records.]

Email Updates and Marketing Consent

Marketing email is strictly opt-in. To subscribe, you give an affirmative, separate consent by checking a dedicated box at sign-up; we then email you a confirmation link and add you to the list only after you confirm (a double opt-in). Every message includes a one-click unsubscribe, and you can withdraw consent at any time through that link or the contact form. We do not sell or share your information, and submitting a contact or resource request does not subscribe you to marketing email.

How We Share Information — Subprocessors

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract: Cloudflare (website hosting, content delivery, edge compute, DNS, and bot-defense), Supabase (database hosting, United States), and Resend (email delivery). We may also disclose information when required by law, legal process, or government-contracting obligations, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of NLT, our users, or the public.

Lawful Bases (where GDPR or UK GDPR applies)

[REVIEW: confirm lawful bases.] Where European or UK data-protection law applies, we rely on your consent (for analytics and marketing email), our legitimate interests (responding to inquiries, securing the Site, and operating our business), and legal obligation where applicable.

Data Retention and Security

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described here, to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements; when it is no longer needed it is securely deleted or anonymized. We apply administrative and technical safeguards, including transport encryption and least-privilege database access. [REVIEW: add concrete retention periods per data category, including consent records and analytics events.]

International Transfers, Children, and Changes

[REVIEW: add an international-transfer mechanism such as Standard Contractual Clauses if applicable.] This Site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. We may update this policy; the date shown above reflects the latest version.

Cookie Policy

Our website uses a small number of first-party cookies and similar technologies. Non-essential categories load only after you opt in.

Strictly NecessaryAlways Active

Required for the website to function and to keep it secure — including bot-defense on form submission and remembering this privacy choice and your theme. Cannot be disabled and never involves a non-essential third-party request.

AnalyticsOptional

Our own first-party analytics, to understand how visitors use the site. No Google Analytics and no third-party analytics.

MarketingOptional

Supports opt-in email updates. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Our consent manager is first-party and already active. Non-essential cookies and analytics do not load until you opt in. You can reopen your choices at any time from Cookie Settings in the footer or on the Your Privacy Choices page, and we honor Global Privacy Control automatically. We deliberately omit a separate Functional category because we load no functional or preference cookies beyond the strictly necessary ones above. We use no Google Analytics, no HubSpot tracking, and no third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights. Submit a request using the form below and our privacy team will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
