Who We Are
New Light Technologies, Inc. (NLT) is a Washington, DC-based provider of integrated information technology, scientific consulting, and research services. Founded in 2001 and a graduate of the SBA 8(a) Business Development Program, NLT has built a 25-year track record delivering mission-critical solutions across federal civilian, defense, DC and state/local government, international development, and the commercial sector.
What sets NLT apart is not just the work — it's how the work gets done. Our interdisciplinary team — engineers, data scientists, GIS architects, economists, Earth scientists, software developers, and cybersecurity analysts — collaborates across ten integrated service lines and eight proprietary SaaS platforms. We bring clients into the team early and keep them there. We invest in the people who do the work. We partner with primes and technology firms we trust. And we contribute back to the communities of practice that strengthen the broader ecosystem.
Anchored by long-standing engagements with FEMA (20+ years), the U.S. Census Bureau, USACE, USDA, the World Bank, the Louisiana Department of Health, and DC Government agencies including DC Water, DDOT, OCTO/DC GIS, MPD, OUC, FEMS, HSEMA, and DCHBX, NLT is the partner of choice for clients who need integrated capability — not handoffs.
Our Mission
NLT makes the world safer, healthier, more prosperous, and efficient through science and technology.
Our Vision
To lead in developing, integrating, and applying information science and technology innovation to solve our customers' most demanding challenges — while empowering our team and contributing to the communities we serve.
Corporate Citizenship
The people and environment around the firm are as important as the clients we serve. NLT supports STEM education in underserved communities, veteran hiring, and environmental sustainability — and contributes to OGC, HIFLD, NAPSG, and USGIF communities of practice.
How We Work
The Four Relationship Pillars
Not capabilities language. The actual principles that govern how NLT operates and why clients stay.
Customer Relations — Built to Last
NLT does not bid-and-disappear. The firm cultivates multi-decade client relationships. Twenty years with FEMA. Twenty-one with DC Government. Fourteen years with the DC Health Benefit Exchange. Multi-year with the World Bank, Louisiana Department of Health, U.S. Census Bureau, USDA, and USACE. The Census Bureau Center for Economic Studies awarded NLT a CPARS Exceptional rating. So did USDA NRCS/FAS. FEMA OCIO Enterprise GIS earned CPARS Very Good. The pattern is consistent: clients return because NLT shows up, listens, and adapts as missions evolve.
Partner Relations — Trust That Compounds
NLT's track record was built alongside prime contractors and technology firms who trust the firm with their reputations. Repeat-engagement primes include SAIC, Dewberry, PS2G, 3Gimbals, NIBS, Ventera, GMS/Covenant Park, AMT Engineering, JMT, Computer Aid, TM3, IEM, and BANA. Technology partners — Esri, AWS, Microsoft, Nearmap, ICEYE, CanopyWeather, Mapbox, Cyclomedia, ImageCat — integrate with NLT's platforms because the integration is operationally proven inside production federal programs.
Employee Relations — A Team That Stays
NLT is an interdisciplinary firm by design. The team includes engineers, data scientists, GIS architects, economists, Earth scientists, software developers, cybersecurity analysts, and program managers — collaborating on the same teams from requirements through operations. No silos. No throw-it-over-the-wall handoffs. The firm invests in modern tools, agile delivery practices, and a culture of creativity that puts the people who do the work at the center.
Community Relations — Stronger Together
NLT believes the people and environment around the firm are as important as the clients it serves. The company supports STEM education programs in underserved communities, veteran hiring, environmental sustainability, and a core group of charities aligned with employee, customer, and community values. NLT actively participates in OGC, HIFLD, NAPSG Foundation, and USGIF — community-of-practice work that strengthens the broader geospatial, emergency management, and federal IT ecosystem.
