NLT Redraws the Borders and Boundaries on the Map of the GIS Industry

February 14, 2019·NLT Staff

New Light Technologies is redrawing the borders and boundaries of what is possible on the map of the GIS landscape. We don't think about merely doing a great job on the task assigned — we're also intent on developing sustainable architectures and systems that will sustain a customer's analytical and geospatial visualization capacities going forward.

NLT provides comprehensive Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing technology consulting and staffing solutions across industries, including government, commercial, and non-profit organizations. Our company maneuvers in almost every arena of geospatial engagement: data discovery, integration, and development; remote sensing; advanced geocoding/geolocation; spatiotemporal modeling and visualization; and web-based and mobile GIS application development, among others.

We provide crucial technical support to FEMA. You can find us in their Response Directorate, the National Response Coordination Center (NRCC), and the Modeling and Data Working Group — at the console during disasters developing integrated risk models, operational data products, and tools for hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, Improvised Nuclear Devices (INDs), and a number of other hazards. We developed the innovative Hurricane Incident Journal, a platform for the rapid integration of disparate weather, environmental, infrastructure, demographic, and other data for real-time analytics to save the most lives as natural disasters hit the country. We also developed the Area of Interest (AOI) Tasker to automatically identify and prioritize areas requiring collection of satellite and aerial imagery, first used during the 2018 hurricane and wildfire seasons.

We offer comprehensive remote sensing and imagery technology consulting services for multispectral and hyperspectral optical imagery and radar data, both at home and abroad. NLT was the primary contractor to update the Washington, DC city government's planimetric dataset using aerial imagery. We've worked with the World Bank to measure land cover and land use changes in Laos and to exploit satellite imagery to detect unregistered parcels and informal structures in Zambia.

Regardless of the needs that arise, NLT is equipped to draw the map needed for the job — and is pushing itself to chart the unknown territories of an always-changing industry.
