New Light Technologies (NLT) is honored to partner with the Center for Effective Global Action's (CEGA) Development Impact West Africa (DIWA). NLT's Chief Scientist will present and facilitate a panel discussion at DIWA's virtual "Online Impact Evaluation Training." The event will train future policymakers and leaders in Ghana on the significance of impact evaluations, equipping researchers and policymakers to design, implement, and use their own findings, and giving them the skills to analyze data and improve their decision-making. NLT's Chief Scientist will present on using geospatial and satellite data to aid decision-making, and NLT's CEO and Chief Scientist will lead discussion groups on the topic.
This online training is a great place for local researchers and policymakers to form lasting relationships that will support Ghanaian sustainable growth. It also covers topics related to impact evaluations, including:
- The relationship between impact evaluation and monitoring/evaluation
- Identifying key approaches and methodologies for impact evaluation, including when to use them
- The use and effectiveness of alternative data collection methodologies
- Survey design basics and field implementation of impact evaluations
This training will be put to use by attendees on projects such as assessing sustainable land and water management policies and increasing resilience to climate change. NLT's previous projects for customers such as the World Bank Group allow us to contribute meaningful tools for trainees to effectively conduct this work.
CEGA is a University of California, Berkeley program aimed at inspiring social and economic growth through research and development; NLT's partnership with CEGA began in 2019 and has already led to fruitful results, with more collaborations underway.
