DIY Fiber Route Estimating

January 4, 2017·NLT Staff

Broadband Communities Magazine published the NLT-authored article "DIY Fiber Estimating" in its November/December 2016 issue. The article breaks down a variety of methods for producing cost estimates for fiber routes, with the goal of helping community broadband providers streamline the fiber mapping and estimating process, shorten their vetting process, standardize the sales cycle, and reduce the workload of outside-plant (OSP) engineers.

An earlier companion article, "DIY Fiber Mapping," follows a do-it-yourself process using Google My Maps that can help community broadband providers give rough cost estimates to customers — or groups of customers — who call asking when high-speed fiber will reach them, and at what cost.
